A NETSCOUT Case Study
South Staffordshire College, which relies on real‑time online classrooms for teaching and learner progression, was hit by repeated short‑burst, multi‑vector DDoS attacks (many believed to originate internally). These outages forced students and lecturers out of lessons, caused rescheduling, and threatened the college’s ability to deliver timely online instruction.
The college installed NETSCOUT AED as an on‑premises, in‑line real‑time mitigation layer that integrates with the service provider’s Arbor cloud systems via Cloud Signaling. AED’s automated defenses restored virtual classroom availability to 100%, improved firewall performance, greatly reduced security alerts, and eliminated the need for firewall HA, leaving IT stakeholders satisfied with the outcome.
