A NETSCOUT Case Study
A large public school district serving more than 25,000 students across 50 schools and 1,500 staff faced repeated slowdowns when deploying security patches and application upgrades to thousands of issued laptops and tablets. Because the district relied on multiple caching services that communicated over HTTPS, IT lacked the granular visibility needed to tell whether performance issues were caused by cache servers, other HTTPS apps, or network contention.
Working with NETSCOUT and leveraging F5 Big‑IP integration, the district imported F5 application definitions into nGeniusONE and deployed InfiniStreamNG/vSTREAM appliances and Packet Flow Switches. That enabled targeted monitoring, alerting, and reporting of caching services, which quickly identified a failed internal cache server as the root cause; fixing it restored update performance. The result was faster mean time to repair, reliable district‑wide updates, and extended value from both F5 and nGeniusONE investments through visibility into HTTPS, VIP, and custom applications.
