Major European Bank Improves Application Performance with nGeniusONE

A major European bank with tens of thousands of employees, nearly 20 million customers and more than 5,000 branch locations was seeing severe slowdowns when branch users tried to browse external websites, even though internal web apps worked normally. These degradations disrupted daily operations, harmed customer and employee experience, and left IT unable to pinpoint problems due to a lack of end-to-end visibility across the wide area network.

The bank deployed NETSCOUT’s nGeniusONE Service Assurance platform and InfiniStreamNG appliances to convert wire data into actionable Smart Data and instrument critical services. The solution quickly revealed root causes — massive DNS errors from branch security cameras (up to 200,000/sec) and antivirus updates overloading proxy servers — allowing IT to correct DNS records and reroute update traffic. As a result, performance was restored, MTTR dropped dramatically, user experience improved, and the bank gained evidence-based insights to right-size infrastructure and plan capacity.
