A NETSCOUT Case Study
One of the largest Independent School Districts in Texas (serving over 40,000 students) moved to fully remote learning during the pandemic and on the first day found virtual meetings, classrooms, and email unavailable. The district had relied on its firewalls for DDoS protection and, when legitimate user load combined with illegitimate DDoS traffic, the network was overwhelmed and parts of the environment went down.
NETSCOUT’s Arbor Edge Defense (AED 2600) was remotely deployed on a try-and-buy basis and, after fine-tuning and onboarding NETSCOUT’s managed services using ATLAS/ASERT threat intelligence, the Managed AED mitigated the attacks by day four. Since implementation the AED has blocked DDoS traffic and malicious indicators of compromise, restoring availability and preventing further DDoS-related downtime.
