A Fortune 100 grocery and drug retailer with more than 1,000 North American locations launched a Business Services Management initiative to meet internal SLAs but lacked coordinated, end-to-end visibility from the real end-user perspective. Their heterogeneous MPLS WAN and hundreds of applications were monitored by specialized, siloed tools that required manual correlation, causing slow fault isolation and repeated handoffs between network and application teams.
After a proof-of-concept, IT deployed NETSCOUT’s Visual Performance Manager and its Application Performance Appliance for transaction-level visibility and clear breakdowns of network, application, and transfer times. The solution accelerated root-cause identification, improved cross-team collaboration, enabled migration to an application-centric, end-user view, and established long-term baselines for proactive capacity planning—raising service delivery and reducing reactive firefighting.
