A NETSCOUT Case Study
One of France’s largest ISPs prepared for the 2024 Summer Games by reinforcing DNS and infrastructure protection to ensure uninterrupted service for millions of viewers, businesses, and international stakeholders. The operator faced high risk of DNS-focused DDoS (including DNS Water Torture) and state‑exhaustion/volumetric attacks that could overwhelm load‑balancers, stateful firewalls, and critical services.
The ISP deployed NETSCOUT Arbor Edge Defense inline, complementing existing Arbor Sightline and TMS solutions to provide localized, bi‑directional protection. AED’s stateless packet processing mitigated DNS, volumetric, and state‑exhaustion attacks across DNS, load‑balancers and stateful devices, eliminating the need for DNS‑specific firewalls, improving resilience during the Games, and enabling broader, cost‑effective protection for additional services.
