A NETSCOUT Case Study
A historic federal agency that moves more than 512 million items daily and supports one of the largest IT footprints in the world — including over 32,000 facilities, 168,000 computers, massive email and unified-communications platforms, and hundreds of millions of transactions — was challenged by frequent service-performance issues across its sprawling network. Complex interdependencies and limited visibility meant long incident “war room” sessions and slow problem identification, impeding staff productivity and user experience.
The agency deployed NETSCOUT’s nGeniusONE service assurance platform with InfiniStream appliances and Adaptive Service Intelligence (ASI) to gain packet-level, end-to-end visibility and real-time contextual analysis of applications, servers, networks and sessions. As a result, war room time fell from 30+ hours to about five hours (≈83% improvement), mean time to resolution dropped as much as 95%, service disruptions were cut by 75% or more, and CAPEX/OPEX were reduced roughly 75% through tool consolidation — delivering major KPI and ROI improvements and a markedly better end-user experience.
