Canadian Board of Education IT Teams Collaborate to Improve Network Security and Performance with NETSCOUT Solution

A large Canadian city Board of Education that supports more than 100,000 students faced growing network load as several new and upgraded schools came online. The IT organization—responsible for two data centers and headquarters services—identified risks of oversubscribed links and a need for improved capacity management and security visibility, all while working within public-school budget constraints.

The BOE deployed NETSCOUT’s nGenius 3900 Packet Flow Switch, TAPs and the nGeniusONE/InfiniStream service assurance platform, with Network Operations and Security jointly funding and sharing the solution. The PFS aggregates, distributes, load-balances and converts traffic to feed both performance and security tools, improving application responsiveness for students and staff, preserving budget, and fostering closer collaboration between the two IT teams.
