A NETSCOUT Case Study
A leading financial services firm that processes millions of transactions daily and a long-time NETSCOUT customer faced a conflict between Security Operations (SecOps) and Network Operations (NetOps): SecOps wanted to increase vulnerability scanning to include weekday off‑hours for better coverage, while NetOps feared those scans would degrade application and network performance. Leadership approved a one‑month trial and vendor‑neutral traffic modeling to provide the evidence needed to reconcile the teams.
Using the nGeniusONE service assurance platform with InfiniStreamNG appliances, nGenius packet flow switches and NETSCOUT Premium Support Services, engineers provided real‑time visibility and trend analysis of 10 p.m.–5 a.m. scans across key data centers. The trial showed no significant network load from the additional scans, enabling weekday testing to be adopted, improving server security assurance, and fostering better collaboration between SecOps and NetOps.
