A leading transporter of natural gas and oil with a growing presence in renewables was experiencing intermittent SCADA “brownouts” on WAN satellite links that created monitoring blind spots and disrupted PLC communications. These disruptions produced thousands of impacted transport transactions, threatened controller operations and raised the risk of environmental incidents, lost production, fines and costly pipeline shutdowns — all while NetOps needed to troubleshoot without interrupting service.

Working with NETSCOUT and a Premium Support Services engineer, the team leveraged nGeniusONE, InfiniStreamNG and nGeniusPULSE with nPoint sensors to run synthetic Modbus tests, monitor transactions and TCP retransmissions, and trigger real‑time dashboard alerts. That visibility identified oversaturated/satellite link brownouts as the root cause, allowed NetOps to switch traffic to a secondary link, restore SCADA performance without downtime, and avoid outages, revenue loss and safety/environmental impacts.
