NETSCOUT partnered with a Tier 1 US mobile operator whose RAN engineering teams lacked end-to-end visibility into 5G VoNR and its interaction with the existing 4G LTE network via EPS Fallback. This gap prevented consistent measurement of accessibility, retainability, mobility, coverage and utilization, and forced heavy reliance on costly drive testing.

NETSCOUT deployed a Docker-based virtual RAN monitoring solution with its TrueCall application—supporting NR RRC, NGAP, XnAP, E1AP and F1AP—to deliver continuous per-cell, subscriber and device visibility and establish new KPIs for 4G/5G voice services. The deployment eliminated much of the need for drive testing, delivered precise reporting for consistent RAN performance monitoring, and reduced OPEX.
