A NETSCOUT Case Study
A federal government agency responsible for a large-scale law enforcement operation across headquarters, data centers and more than 100 regional and local offices faced limited visibility into distributed sites, mixed infrastructure, and increasing voice, video and data performance issues. Ongoing digital transformations — including adoption of UCaaS, streaming services and a WAN migration to SD‑WAN — plus minimal local IT staff made it difficult for central NetOps to troubleshoot application slowdowns, call-quality problems, and document-management interruptions that could impact case work and public safety.
The agency expanded its existing NETSCOUT deployment with nGeniusONE, InfiniStreamNG (ISNG) appliances and Remote ISNG 600 Series units (plus nGenius Flow Collector), placing packet‑level monitoring before and after firewalls at distributed sites. Synthetic tests, business transaction tests and DPI provided proactive alerts and fast root‑cause analysis, resolving one‑way voice, QoS mismatches and SNR/microphone issues, improving MTTR, preserving service during MPLS→SD‑WAN migration, reducing onsite visits, and restoring consistent user experience and productivity across all locations.
