The Denholm Group’s Journey With Nerdio and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop

The Denholm Group, a fifth-generation maritime and logistics company with roughly 1,600–1,700 employees and about 1,000 IT users, faced complexity and inefficiency in its legacy RDS remote desktop environment, rising hardware costs, and the need for MFA and a cloud-first strategy. To modernize its desktop estate on Microsoft Azure and address these challenges, The Denholm Group turned to Nerdio, deploying Azure Virtual Desktop with Nerdio Manager for Enterprise to simplify management and reduce infrastructure overhead.

Nerdio implemented a single-pane management layer with auto-scaling, image management, automation, auto-recovery, and support for disaster recovery (including a secondary failover instance). As a result, Denholm scaled to 450 Nerdio seats, realized nearly $900 (£700) in monthly savings from auto-scaling, dramatically reduced administrative effort, completed a rapid successful DR test, and delivered a more reliable, user-friendly virtual desktop experience.
