Why Focusing on Training & Education for Nonprofits Leads to the Best Giving Days

GiveBIG is a statewide 48‑hour community giving event that connects Washington donors with local nonprofits. To scale from a Seattle event to a statewide campaign and support nonprofits with widely varying experience, GiveBIG needed both robust fundraising technology and extensive training and resources. GiveBIG partnered with Neon One and used Neon Giving Days to provide that platform.

Neon One implemented Neon Giving Days features — virtual event listings and sharing, donor‑advised fund checkout, automated emails, peer‑to‑peer functionality and new nonprofit dashboards — while GiveBIG and 501 Commons delivered training and hands‑on campaign support. The combined approach helped GiveBIG raise $19.2M (including $12.9M via the GiveBIG site), drive a 67% increase in total amount raised, a 30% increase in new donors, engage 1,682 participating nonprofits and attract 40,991 unique donors; one participant raised 35× its prior early‑giving total using peer‑to‑peer campaigns.
