Heineken, a leading beer brand in the Netherlands, needed to boost retail sales and increase foot traffic to bars. The challenge was to build a direct connection with consumers and strengthen brand loyalty in a highly competitive market without direct control over bar spaces. To address this, they partnered with the vendor NeoDay to implement a loyalty solution.
NeoDay developed the Heineken Biertegoed app, a platform that rewarded customers with beer credits for retail purchases, which were then redeemed for draft beer at bars. This solution successfully linked retail buys to bar visits. The program served over 2 million beers through credits, attracted more than 400,000 users, and led to 15% of users purchasing more, ultimately driving sales and providing Heineken with valuable real-time consumer insights.
