WineDataSystem (WDS), founded in 2011, builds sales automation, PIM and CRM tools for wine professionals. Facing a fragmented global wine data landscape—multiple databases, regional names and formats—and hamstrung by a rigid SQL/Windev/PostgreSQL stack that produced slow, inflexible queries, WDS needed an inexpensive, easy-to-use solution that delivered real-time responsiveness.
WDS rewrote its platform on the Neo4j graph database and deployed a working solution in under four months, cutting query times to about 0.01 seconds and enabling a live, evolving wine reference. The new system supports a software package and tablet interface for brokers and sellers, eliminated manual data maintenance, and now manages some 20,000 wine references, freeing staff for higher-value work.
