A Neo4j Case Study
Tourism Media, a lean travel content company that produces photos, videos and written guides for travel clients, needed to automatically generate customized content for hundreds of thousands of destinations. Their relational database couldn’t model geography’s ragged hierarchies or support the complex, highly connected queries required for scalable, context-aware content, causing long build times and limiting product features.
They migrated to Neo4j Aura and built a knowledge graph accessed via GraphQL, modeling geographic relationships, templates and ontology-based weighting to drive automated content generation. The change scaled to ~200,000 cities, cut build time from seven–eight days to under a day, delivered automated content that matches or exceeds human-written SEO performance, and provided a managed, elastic platform that lets the team add new data sources and features faster.
