Case Study: SITA achieves faster lost-item tracking and matching with Neo4j

A Neo4j Case Study

Preview of the SITA Case Study

SITA Quickly Finds and Returns Lost Items to Airline Passengers With Real-Time Tracking

SITA, the global airport IT specialist, needed a better way to match lost items with found items across airports and aircraft, where descriptions often vary and hundreds of possible matches must be checked. To solve this connected-data challenge, SITA used Neo4j graph technology in its WorldTracer® Lost and Found Property (LFP) application.

With Neo4j, SITA built a graph-powered suggestion engine that analyzes item attributes and relationships to quickly surface likely matches for staff to confirm. The results were dramatic: registration of a found item dropped from hours to about 30 seconds, full reports take about a minute, tracking and matching happen in microseconds, the system provides 24/7 real-time visibility across millions of items, and duplicate inbound call volume fell to zero.
