OrbitMI’s AI Maritime Routing Engine

OrbitMI, a maritime software company, needed a way to handle complex vessel routing across millions of nodes and edges while factoring in weather, sanctions, insurance, and spatial data. Before Neo4j, OrbitMI relied on third-party routing tools, but performance limits and insufficient data access made predictive, real-time planning difficult.

Neo4j worked with OrbitMI to build an AI-based routing capability on its graph technology, supporting large-scale graph storage and spatial data in an iterative innovation process. The result was sub-second routing suggestions, more frequent vessel data collection, constantly updated routes, and the ability to triple the size of use cases supported in the product, delivering faster, more reliable supply chain optimization.
