A Neo4j Case Study
Murrelektronik, a family-owned specialist in decentralized automation with over 3,000 employees and an online shop of 42,000+ products, needed a new product information management system after its previous PIM was discontinued. Product texts, terms, technical details and graphics lived in multiple systems and Excel files, causing duplication, inconsistent terminology and slow, error-prone verification and approval processes that made accurate, automated provisioning across channels difficult.
Working with semantic PDM, Murrelektronik built a Neo4j knowledge graph as a single source of truth, mapping products, components and departmental data with role-specific views, fine‑grained access control and release workflows. The graph (now 62M nodes and 95M relationships) delivers real-time, consistent product content to all channels, removes duplicates, enables one‑click customer reports, produces major time savings and provides a flexible, future‑proof platform for expanding PIM and engineering use cases.
