IBM Power Systems - Customer Case Study

IBM Power Systems was facing a new hardware reality as Moore’s Law slowed and big-data and graph workloads demanded more performance and scale. In partnership with Neo4j, IBM Power Systems looked for a better platform for running graph databases close to the processor, using the POWER8-based IBM Power Systems platform and Neo4j’s graph database software.

Neo4j and IBM Power Systems worked together to extend memory scalability with CAPI Flash, making flash behave more like memory and helping data stay closer to the CPU. The result was a scalable, high-performance platform for graph workloads, with IBM Power Systems reporting 1–16 terabytes of memory support and an ecosystem impact that grew through the OpenPOWER Foundation to 260 companies and hundreds of innovations.
