One example challenge was for a bank that needed to deliver the right, context-rich information to traders at the right moment—connecting commodities, companies, people and real-time news—where feasibility was uncertain and the project risked remaining a research question.

The team used the graph metaphor and Neo4j as core infrastructure, combining entity extraction and machine learning on news feeds to model relationships and surface timely signals for trading decisions. This approach moved the work from experimentation to engineering, producing a production-grade app used daily by professionals and showing how exploring non-obvious ideas with graphs yields practical, high-value ML solutions.
