Basecamp Research, a biotech company mapping Earth’s biodiversity, needed a way to manage and make sense of highly complex, interconnected biological, environmental, and chemical data. Using Neo4j’s graph database, Basecamp built BaseGraph™, a knowledge graph with over 5 billion relationships to close the gap in understanding more than 99.9% of the planet’s undiscovered biodiversity and support protein design and AI-driven biotech applications.

Neo4j helped Basecamp Research scale its data platform and uncover previously hidden genomic relationships through Graph Data Science and other Neo4j capabilities. The result has been faster discovery, including a 50% increase in known proteins, 500 million new relationships added every four weeks, and a case where a customer optimized an enzyme in one month instead of two years.
