Transport For London cuts congestion by 10% with Neo Technology

Transport For London (TfL) faced the challenge of managing one of the world's most complex transport networks, where disparate, low-quality data and a reactive approach hindered their ability to quickly address thousands of yearly incidents. This congestion problem cost London billions annually. TfL partnered with vendor Neo Technology (Neo4j) to power a solution.

Using Neo4j's graph database to build a digital twin of the transport network, TfL connected and analyzed billions of data relationships in real time. This allowed them to detect and respond to incidents within minutes instead of much longer. The solution is estimated to reduce congestion by 10%, generating $750 million in annual economic savings and giving each London driver back over $1,500 in time value per year.
