Wharton School gets smart with NEC large screen displays and video walls

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania needed to replace a five‑year‑old video wall in Jon M. Huntsman Hall’s eighth‑floor colloquium while working within the exact size of an existing wood‑paneled enclosure, accommodating variable daylight, and staying on a strict budget. NEC Display Solutions — already a trusted supplier on campus — was engaged to provide a brighter, seamless replacement that would fit the room’s constraints and wiring.

NEC Display Solutions provided a 4×3 video wall built from 46" NEC X463UN panels, supplemented by two 55" X551S displays on carts and driven by a Crestron DM processor; integrator Video Visions handled installation. The NEC displays’ ultra‑narrow bezels, wide viewing angles and 700 cd/m2 brightness fit the existing enclosure with minimal retrofit, used existing wiring, supported multiple source types (laptops/tablets), and delivered cost‑effective, high‑impact visuals for the 90×30 ft room that seats up to 150.
