A NEC Display Solutions Case Study
WSDOT (Washington State Department of Transportation) needed to expand and modernize its Shoreline Traffic Management Center to handle more cameras and real‑time roadway control while staying within a tight state budget. WSDOT selected NEC Display Solutions to supply a large video wall system—90 NEC P463 46‑inch monitors (with OPS‑PCIC‑SWS processors) and a central 3x4 array of NEC X554‑UNS 55‑inch panels—chosen for 24/7 reliability, easy modular replacement and integrated OPS computers.
NEC Display Solutions’ installation was integrated with WSDOT’s network of about 750 cameras and traffic detectors so operators can monitor conditions, control ~200 variable message signs, adjust tolling and manage a 260‑ramp metering system in real time; a separate Emergency Operations Center uses eight NEC P403 40‑inch displays. The NEC video wall has run continuously since installation with no failures, improved collaboration and incident response, and its modular design lets WSDOT replace sections over time to control maintenance costs.
