Turner Studios controls the airwaves with NEC Display Solutions LCD monitors

Turner Studios, the full-service broadcast production division of Turner Entertainment Group, needed to modernize the displays in its two 53-foot production trucks. Constrained by space, excessive heat and high power consumption from more than 200 small CRTs — plus the need for reliable performance under road vibration and temperature swings — Turner engaged NEC Display Solutions and evaluated its large-format LCDs (LCD4000 and LCD3000).

NEC Display Solutions supplied 40" LCD4000 and 30" LCD3000 panels with multi-image processors across three truck areas—15 LCD3000s on the main production wall (replacing 76 CRTs), six LCD4000s in the videotape room and two LCD4000s at the operator position—supporting up to 12 inputs per display. The NEC Display Solutions installation more than doubled viewable screen area, cut power and cooling costs, reduced eyestrain, improved team productivity and comfort, demonstrated rugged operation under vibration and temperature fluctuation, and saved roughly 1,300 pounds of weight.
