Superstition Springs Elementary leverages teacher’s vision to design high-tech classrooms with NEC projectors

Superstition Springs Elementary School, a K–6 school of 840 students in Mesa, AZ, faced the challenge of bringing cutting‑edge multimedia into classrooms so teachers could better engage students and improve comprehension. First‑grade teacher Valerie Gresser won a CCS Presentation Systems grant to realize a 21st‑century classroom design, centered on NEC Display Solutions’ NP400 projectors to replace the constraints of a single classroom computer and support rich Internet and multimedia lessons.

NEC Display Solutions’ NP400 projectors were ceiling‑mounted and integrated with SMART interactive whiteboards, document cameras, student‑response systems and other classroom peripherals to create hands‑on, interactive lessons. The rollout boosted student attention, technology literacy and reading/math comprehension, and led the school to purchase 25 more NEC NP400 units (with plans for 21 additional units) as teachers expanded multimedia lessons schoolwide.
