Students explore the world of photography using NEC monitors and software

Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences needed to replace aging iMacs and cinema displays with color‑critical, durable monitors so students could edit photography, video and motion graphics accurately. To meet that challenge RIT selected NEC Display Solutions’ 24” MultiSync PA241W professional graphics monitors and related calibration tools.

NEC Display Solutions supplied 87 PA241W monitors along with MultiProfiler software, AmbiBright ambient sensing and RIT’s licensed SpectraViewII calibration system, delivering 98.1% AdobeRGB coverage and 14‑bit 3D LUT capability for consistent, color‑accurate workstations. Installed in August 2012, the upgrade produced identical, calibrated stations across labs, improved the computing environment, and left students and faculty “thrilled” with tools that better prepare them for professional photography work.
