Sacramento County International Airport selects NEC to revamp its FID system

Sacramento County International Airport (SCIA) needed to replace aging CRT monitors used for flight and baggage information to eliminate image burn-in, reduce high power consumption, and add new functionality. The airport selected NEC Display Solutions and its large-format LCDs — the 30" (29.5" VIS) NEC LCD3000 and 40" (40" VIS) NEC LCD4000 — to meet those requirements.

NEC Display Solutions installed more than 175 LCD3000 and LCD4000 displays across ticketing, concourses and food courts, integrating anti-glare, vandal-resistant enclosures and centralized signal distribution (via Magenta Research) for easier content management. The deployment eliminated burn-in concerns, lowered power use, enabled advertising revenue opportunities, improved visual clarity and reliability, and now delivers critical flight, gate and baggage information to about 9.3 million travelers annually, improving the airport’s overall total cost of ownership.
