Philadelphia International Airport completes facility-wide upgrade with NEC LCD displays

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), which serves more than 30 million passengers annually across 120 gates, needed to replace antiquated CRT monitors with reliable, bright digital displays that could handle ambient light, provide a 3‑year on‑site warranty and support future integrations. Following a product shootout led by consultant Arora Engineers, PHL selected NEC Display Solutions’ MultiSync LCD series (32” LCD3210‑BK, 40” LCD4020‑2‑AV, 46” LCD4620‑2‑AV and 57” LCD5710‑2‑AV) to meet those strict requirements.

NEC Display Solutions supplied more than 20 of the 32” units, over 500 of the 40” units, more than 30 of the 46” units and nearly 20 of the 57” units; integrator Infax programmed the network for FIDS, BIDS, concourse train info, visual paging and wayfinding. The installation standardized and modernized displays across the 2.4 million sq. ft. facility, brightened terminal environments, improved real‑time information delivery for millions of travelers, and was well received by airport officials — with NEC accommodating technology updates during the 18‑month project and meeting PHL’s warranty and performance requirements.
