NEC’s color-critical displays bring needed accuracy to nonprofit digital arts lab in Chicago

Latitude, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) digital arts lab in Chicago, faced failing 1990s CRT monitors and needed affordable, color-accurate displays for soft proofing and print matching. To meet strict Adobe RGB coverage and contrast/brightness requirements while keeping costs down, the nonprofit turned to NEC Display Solutions and its MultiSync PA271W 27” desktop displays paired with SpectraViewII color calibration.

NEC Display Solutions supplied PA271W monitors (later adding a PA272W) across the lab’s workstations and enabled true hardware calibration with SpectraViewII and an X-Rite sensor. The NEC displays (2560×1440, >97% Adobe RGB, 10‑bit capability, 1000:1 contrast) integrated with the lab’s scanners and printers to improve on‑screen-to-print accuracy, reduce reprints and corrections, speed workflows, and help Latitude continue serving the arts and photography community with a high‑end production space.
