NEC video wall gives The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies a little extra kick

The Plaza Theatre, home to The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies, needed a compact, stage-friendly backdrop that would add visual variety without overpowering or distracting from its veteran performers. Working with NEC Display Solutions, the theatre evaluated video-wall options and sought a high-resolution, color-matched solution (NEC X461UN displays) that could be mounted to the concrete back wall, allow hot-swapping of panels, resist powerful stage lighting, and read as a single traditional backdrop on the 809-seat, tightly spaced stage.

NEC Display Solutions provided a 5x5 video wall of 25 NEC X461UN 46" LCD panels (ultra-narrow 7.3mm bezels, TileMatrix™), which integrator Fluid Sound installed and calibrated in roughly three weeks. Delivered on time and on budget, the NEC video wall occupies minimal stage space while enabling photorealistic and stylized backdrops that enhance — rather than distract from — the show; it’s now used frequently across up to nine performances per week in the Plaza Theatre and has helped expand the Follies’ creative content for a production seen by more than 3 million people.
