NEC monitors bring unlimited visibility to San Diego Regional Authority desktops

San Diego International Airport, operated by the San Diego Regional Airport Authority, faced productivity and energy challenges from aging, small CRT desktop monitors that increased eye strain and slowed employees who frequently switch between multiple applications. With a Green Build expansion emphasizing sustainability and lower operating costs, the airport selected NEC Display Solutions and trialed the 23” NEC MultiSync EX231W (building on prior use of NEC V321 and E421 displays for FIDS) to find a larger, more energy-efficient desktop display.

NEC Display Solutions supplied and tested the 23” MultiSync EX231W across departments, after which San Diego International Airport deployed 30 units as part of a broader upgrade. The widescreen displays let staff view multiple documents side-by-side, reduced reported eye fatigue, and increased workflow efficiency; the Authority also achieved a measurable cost savings of about $100 per unit versus the prior competitive model. NEC displays’ energy efficiency and user acceptance have led to strong demand and planned inclusion in the airport’s Green Build program.
