NEC Displays Power Interactive Video Wall at Delaware Children’s Hospital

Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children needed to turn a 50-foot-long atrium wall into an engaging, therapeutic space to entertain and soothe patients and families during visits. After an RFP process, NEC Display Solutions was selected to provide the display hardware, supplying a 45-panel NEC X464UN video wall to meet the hospital’s requirements for color consistency, brightness and low bezel gap.

NEC Display Solutions installed a 50‑foot‑by‑9‑foot, 93‑million‑pixel video wall (45 NEC X464UN 46-inch displays) with gesture-controlled content that allows more than a dozen users to interact at once; Kinect 2 cameras and custom software drive day/night cycles and evolving, playful scenes. The installation, part of a 2014 expansion, delivered the intended “wow” factor—families’ responses have been uniformly enthusiastic—and created an immersive, therapeutic experience that helps lessen the stress of hospital visits.
