NEC Displays Bring David Hockney’s Digital Art to Life

The de Young Museum in San Francisco needed to present David Hockney’s large-scale, color-critical digital works across galleries with varied lighting and continuous daily operation. NEC Display Solutions was chosen to provide a commercial-grade video wall solution, specifying 55” X551UN ultra-narrow-bezel displays to ensure color accuracy, image sharpness and durability.

NEC Display Solutions installed two 6x3 arrays, four 3x3 arrays and eight single 55” X551UN panels, delivering true-to-life color, 3.5 mm bezels for near-seamless imagery and reliable all-day performance. The result was one of the de Young’s most popular exhibitions, higher visitor engagement, and measurable reuse of the hardware (the largest installation remained at the museum through October 2014 while other panels were repurposed for signage and a 4x4 planning grid).
