McCarran Airport launches state-of-the-art terminal with NEC displays

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas needed a durable, 24/7 digital wayfinding and information system for its new 1.9-million-square-foot Terminal 3 to guide more than 41 million annual travelers. To meet that challenge, McCarran selected NEC Display Solutions, specifying commercial-grade 46” P461 and 40” P401 displays and NEC-SBC-03 single-board computers for reliable, easily updatable signage.

NEC Display Solutions deployed more than 900 large-screen displays (182 × 46” P461 and 723 × 40” P401) plus over 800 NEC-SBC-03 SBCs, integrated with Four Winds Interactive software to provide real-time flight info, synchronized advertising, and interactive maps with 1,500+ plotted routes and QR-enabled turn-by-turn directions. The system, part of T3’s June 27, 2012 opening, delivered satisfactory 24/7 performance and durability, streamlined passenger wayfinding during daily peaks of ~114,000 travelers, and met airport IT’s expectations for flexibility and uptime.
