A NEC Display Solutions Case Study
Keil E. Heilman, II, the 2004 Kansas Teacher of the Year who created the Museum Connections curriculum at Monticello Trails Middle School, needed a way to supplement artifacts and hands-on lessons with compelling visuals despite relying on old textbooks, a chalkboard and a $200 budget. NEC Display Solutions stepped in to address that gap by donating its VT465 portable projectors to the 2004 U.S. State Teachers of the Year.
NEC Display Solutions’ VT465 projectors brought vivid images and video clips into Heilman’s classroom and presentations, allowing him to project fragile artifacts and historical footage to audiences of 300 rather than passing items around. The portable, easy-to-use units increased student engagement, enabled schoolwide sharing of the technology, and helped Heilman more effectively connect students to global cultures and historical events — a change he says has “really makes a difference” in students’ learning.
