Edmonton City Centre attracts local shoppers with NEC video walls and targeted advertising

Edmonton City Centre, a busy downtown mall and elevated walkway seeing more than 4.5 million pedestrians per year, needed a way to entertain passersby, drive traffic to retailers and provide targeted advertising opportunities. To meet this challenge they partnered with integrator WMC Digital Media and selected NEC Display Solutions’ 46" X462UN ultra-narrow LCD displays for high-impact digital signage throughout the bridgeway.

NEC Display Solutions supplied three video walls (4x4, 2x2 and 3x3 configurations of X462UN panels) integrated with content and players from Capital Networks to deliver interactive feeds, social media photo displays and targeted ads. The installation covered its costs through advertising revenue, drove significant engagement (including a 42% increase in Facebook likes and large boosts in website/Facebook traffic during promotions), impressed retailers and now reaches thousands of commuters daily.
