Choosing NEC LCDs a learning process for Niagara Catholic School District

Niagara Catholic School District, which serves nearly 25,000 students across 60 schools in Ontario, needed to replace aging CRTs and outfit a new school while addressing everyday wear-and-tear, power consumption and total cost of ownership. After a committee tested displays from 15 vendors — including a custom “tilt test” for durability — the District selected NEC Display Solutions’ 17" MultiSync LCD1770NXM and 17" MultiSync LCD1770V models.

NEC Display Solutions supplied more than 300 LCD1770NXM units for administrative areas and libraries and nearly 100 LCD1770V units for student workstations; the District reported more than 50% lower power consumption versus CRTs, reduced heat (and cooling costs), and a failure rate under 1% (only two units) in initial use. The NEC monitors passed durability testing, provided convenient built-in USB ports, and earned strong user approval, confirming NEC Display Solutions’ choice.
