A NEC Display Solutions Case Study
Cesar Chavez High School, a new school in the Phoenix Union High School District serving predominantly lower-income students, needed to replace chalkboard classrooms with flexible, visually engaging technology that works in bright fluorescent light and reaches students at the back of the room. To address the needs of a visually and interactively oriented student body, the school evaluated options and selected NEC Display Solutions’ portable video projection systems to provide large, bright displays that accept computer, video and internet sources.
NEC Display Solutions’ projectors were ceiling-mounted in 130 classrooms and rolled out with district-led teacher training and a peer “train-the-trainer” approach, leading to near-universal adoption across departments. The projection systems improved student engagement—students are more attentive during lessons—and contributed to measurable gains: reading scores increased and Cesar Chavez achieved the lowest dropout rate in the district.
