Alberta Health Services makes room for NEC medical displays

Alberta Health Services (AHS), one of Canada’s largest publicly funded health systems serving over 3.7 million people, needed to replace aging monitors used for diagnostic radiology and PACS workstations across four acute care facilities. Facing inconsistent image quality and a mix of models across 75 workstations (120 radiologists, two displays per station), AHS evaluated options and selected NEC Display Solutions’ MultiSync MD Series—specifically the 21.3” MD21GS-3MP-CB2 3‑megapixel medical display—for reliable, consistent diagnostic viewing.

NEC Display Solutions supplied and supported an initial rollout of 150 MD21GS-3MP-CB2 monitors (75 workstations), with local maintenance via Acrodex, remote calibration, and a 5-year limited warranty including Advanced Overnight Exchange for next‑business‑day replacements; AHS later added 40+ newer MD Series units (MD213MC/MD213MG). The NEC solution won a blind radiologist evaluation for superior image clarity, standardized display performance across sites, simplified monitoring and servicing, and helped lower total cost of ownership for the health system.
