Nexus brings Pop travel cards into Google Pay with Nebula Labs

The transport operator Nexus sought to make its ticketing system easier, quicker, and more accessible for its customers by moving from physical travel cards to a virtual smart ticketing solution. To address this challenge, they partnered with vendor Nebula Labs.

Nebula Labs developed a solution in partnership with Google and Nexus to integrate the existing Pop travel card into the Google Pay wallet on Android. The implemented system used Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for tapping in and out of the metro network and included season tickets and Pay As You Go top-up functionality. Nebula Labs also built the payment processing backend to manage transactions for Nexus.
