How a tourism board used Near’s Heartbeat report to assess the impact of an event

Leading Tourism Board Company used Near’s Heartbeat report to understand how an event in Lake Elsinore, CA affected visitation to a designated area from February through May 2019. The tourism board wanted to track changes in foot traffic during the event and compare them with pre- and post-event levels.

Using Near’s Heartbeat report, the tourism board analyzed visitation trends by week, month, and day. Near found that visitation rose from late February into mid-March during peak event hype, then gradually declined as excitement faded, returning to pre-event levels after the event ended. Monthly data showed March median visitation index rising to around 65, compared with roughly 50 in February, April, and May, while day-level trends showed higher visitation on weekends than weekdays.
