Independent School Doubles Size of Computer Lab, Achieves 1-to-1 Computing

St. Catherine’s School is a small K–7 Catholic school in British Columbia whose single computer lab of 16 aging, bulky desktops forced classes of 30 to be split so students only had computer time every other week. The machines were slow, generated excessive heat, frequently failed, and the school—without a dedicated IT team or budget for 32 new PCs—struggled to keep them running.

St. Catherine’s replaced the 16 PCs with 32 NComputing L300 thin clients supported by three host servers, installed in just a few days, doubling lab capacity and enabling weekly 1-to-1 student computing. The move cut deployment and future refresh costs, reduced maintenance (only three hosts to manage), improved performance and classroom comfort, and allowed older desktops to be redeployed around the school.
