Case Study: Fleetwood Industries achieves reliable, low-cost factory computing with NComputing L-series

A Ncomputing Case Study

Preview of the Fleetwood Industries Case Study

Furniture Manufacturer Builds Productivity

Fleetwood Industries, a furniture manufacturer in Holland, Michigan, needed to replace aging “green screen” terminals and an outdated gateway while keeping costs and IT support low. The dusty, computer-hostile factory environment, tight margins, and a very small IT team meant the company required a rugged, high-uptime, and cost-effective way to modernize workstations and support critical barcode scanning and scheduling.

Fleetwood deployed NComputing L-series virtual desktop devices, sharing one PC across up to eight stations, giving durable, low-maintenance access to applications without performance loss. The rollout delivered substantial upfront savings, excellent reliability and uptime, much lower energy use (5W per device vs. 150–200W per PC), reduced IT support and faster deployment, and improved productivity through access to email, alerts, databases and engineering drawings.
