Safran Helicopter Engines reduces typical test analysis time for new engines from 2 months to 1 week with nCode Automation

Safran Helicopter Engines, a leading manufacturer of helicopter gas turbines, needed a faster and more consistent way to analyze the large volumes of test data generated during engine development and qualification. Using a mix of manual steps, Excel spreadsheets, and VBA scripts, the company could spend about two months analyzing a typical new engine program, with concerns about file size limits, errors, and inconsistent methods across engineers.

Safran implemented nCode Automation, using nCode GlyphWorks flows to automate data filtering, statistical analysis, reporting, and other test-data processing tasks. With nCode, large files that once took five minutes to open now open in about ten seconds, and overall analysis time for the most recent new engine dropped from about two months to one week, while also improving repeatability and enabling more tests and larger data sets to be analyzed.
