North State Bank is a community bank headquartered in Raleigh, NC with about $875 million in assets and seven full-service offices. As it grew, the bank struggled with an arcane legacy commercial loan origination process—31 different forms across systems, manual paper-based workflows, little reporting or visibility, and limited integration—so leadership sought a centralized, modern platform to digitize processes, improve transparency and collaboration, and save staff time.

North State implemented the cloud-based nCino Bank Operating System (built on Salesforce) in a roughly six-month rollout, creating a single source of truth and automating lending workflows. The change more than doubled loan volume (from roughly 200 to 450), cut spending by 20%, reduced exceptions by about 40%, simplified regulatory exams with digital files, and freed employees to focus on customer relationships—prompting wider adoption and plans to extend nCino to retail banking.
