A nCino Case Study
Live Oak Bank is a branchless, niche-focused lender founded in 2007 that grew into one of the largest small-business loan originators by specializing in SBA 7(a) lending across targeted industries. Despite national growth, Live Oak’s centralized operations were hampered by paper-based workflows, poor visibility across dispersed loan teams, long cycle times and regulatory overhead — so the bank needed a mobile, configurable operating system that would connect people, processes and customer relationships from a single Wilmington hub.
Partnering with Salesforce, Live Oak built the nCino Bank Operating System — a cloud-native platform combining CRM, business process and document management, loan origination and reporting with mobile access and a customer portal. The system eliminated paper and duplicate data entry, improved transparency and compliance, cut average loan cycle time from three months to six weeks, increased closers’ productivity (from ~40 to ~60 loans/year), supported rapid loan growth (new originations rose from $315M to $505M year-over-year) and significantly reduced document exceptions and regulatory burden while boosting customer satisfaction.
