A data analytics organization seeks a cybersecurity review to strengthen potential acquisition discussions

Global Satellite Data Analytics Organization, a data analytics firm in Australia with global satellite offices, faced an impending acquisition that required an independent cybersecurity review and a prioritized remediation roadmap for presentation to the acquirer. With limited internal resources and capability, the organization engaged NCC Group to perform a Cyber Security Review (CSR) against the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF).

NCC Group interviewed 15 stakeholders, reviewed 41 pieces of evidence, and performed NIST CSF-driven maturity assessments to map assets, threats, gaps, and likely risk scenarios, then communicated prioritized remediation. The CSR measured a CMMI-equivalent maturity of 2.20 (target 3.20), recommended three key actions—employ an Information Security Manager, implement a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, and develop incident response playbooks—and NCC Group was asked to repeat the engagement annually to track improvement.
